Man O Salwa is one of the best novels in the Urdu language. The writer of this novel is Umera Ahmed, a popular Urdu writer. The story of the novel is about a virtuous man who is a government employee and is doing his duty honestly. There is more than one corrupt officer in his department, but he believes in earning halal sustenance, so he avoids haram sustenance.
His neighbor and nephew do not agree with Shiraz as thinking and point of view and taunt him for being an honest employee. Shiraz wants to accumulate wealth by any legal or illegal means no matter what it takes.
Summary/ Story of the Novel:
The main character of the story of the novel is a girl Zainab. Zainab’s father is a pious person and has brought up his daughter in a very religious way. This is the reason why, like her father, Zainab also believes in halal livelihood.
Zainab was engaged to her uncle’s son Shiraz in her childhood and now they are going to get married after some time. Zainab’s fiance Shiraz is preparing for the CSS exam and wants to earn a lot of wealth by becoming a CSP officer in the future.
Zainab loves and adores her fiancé Shiraz. However, he has a lot of disagreement with the idea of earning wealth in legitimate and illegitimate ways. Like her father, she always advises him to live an honest life. Shiraz decides to distance himself from Zainab because of his religious and pious views.
He has asked his parents to end the engagement with Zainab. Shehraz has befriended a girl from a rich family and has finalized the arrangements to marry her. After Zainab’s engagement to Shiraz ends; she is very depressed and anxious.
