Imam Ibn Kaseer has quoted this Islamic book more than Ibn Jarir al-Tabari’s Tafsir al-Tabari, so some researchers say that this book is a summary of Ibn Jarir Al-Tabari’s al-Tabari al-Tafsir al-Tabari, but this book is very authentic. It is valid in the eyes of all Muslim schools of thought.

Imam Jalal al-Din says: No scholar has written a better commentary on the Arabic Qur’an than Ibn Katheer. The greatest virtue of Ibn Kathir’s Qur’an interpretation book is that you interpret the verses of the Qur’an from the Qur’an itself. After this, you quote evidence from hadith books.

About the author:

Imam Ibn Kathir was born in Basra, Syria. He was from a well-known and educated Syrian family. His father was an imam and preacher of the nearby mosque. His older brother was one of the famous scholars and muftis of the region.

Iban Kathir’s father died when he was four years old. After his father’s death, he went to Damascus with his elder brother to study and studied jurisprudence with his elder brother, and then he went to the senior scholars of Mecca to learn hadith.

Imam Bin Kathir was an expert in the sciences of the Qur’an, hadith, jurisprudence, Arabic language and literature, and Arabic poetry. He was a great poet in the Arabic language. Among his teachers, Allama Ibn Tamiya had the most influence.

He gave fatwas according to the jurisprudence of Imam Shafi’i. He spent his whole life writing and teaching the Quranic sciences. The following books by him, apart from authoring Tafsir of the Qur’an, were liked by the common people and scholars.
